CFO & Interim Executives Sought After In 2023
C-Suite executives such as CFOs who are skilled in financial operations as well as Interim Executives are highly sought in today’s increasingly complex and fluid environment.
While a global recession may threaten to reduce hiring, and in some industries has already led to layoffs, many metropolitan areas are still experiencing growth and talent shortages, and highly skilled executives with proven track records remain high in demand.
Organizations are assessing their existing talent - and in many cases bringing in senior executives - to address budget control and help identify ways to increase revenue streams in the current market.
Much of the pressure is landing on CFOs, whose roles have evolved rapidly in recent years to include a much broader skillset beyond the traditional accounting and finance acumen. CFOs who successfully navigated the pandemic and have shown aptitude in driving and creating value across multiple business disciplines are in high value.
“We don’t think we need a significant increase in unemployment, and we’re certainly not aiming for one,” Federal Reserve Board Chair Jerome Powell told lawmakers Tuesday. “But we do think there will be some softening in labor market conditions to get to 2% inflation.”
The demand for skilled high-level executives in many cases has gone beyond the CFO role and into other C-Suite operational roles. As businesses continue to keep a close eye on budget, there has been a rise in the Interim Management and Executive space for more project-oriented opportunities. Navigating the landscape today requires a more strategic alignment and focus on not just budget control, but areas for business efficiency and targeted growth.
“Our clients often embrace an interim CFO when they need a cost-effective, flexible, temporary solution. Our interim CFOs provide an unbiased approach to help identify areas for improvement, or simply to run with your current business model,” said Lisa Flicker, Managing Partner, Head of Real Estate at Jackson Lucas.
